What Does the Expiry of the Presumption of Eligibility Mean?
For standards, these dates mean the last day of the presumption of conformity. After these dates:
- In new applications, CE marking cannot be made on the basis of withdrawn standards.
- Active and valid certificates can be used until the current certificate expires.
- However, when the certificate expires, it cannot be renewed based on the same standard.
- For new applications and renewals, manufacturers are required to switch to the current applicable EN/EN ISO/EN IEC standards.
- Otherwise, there is a risk of non-conformity when the product is placed on the market.
Recommended Actions for Manufacturers and Suppliers
It is recommended that businesses take the following steps in this process:
- Request documentation from suppliers in accordance with current EN / EN ISO / EN IEC standards,
- Preventive risk assessment for products based on the standard to be abolished,
- Ensure that technical files (test reports, user manuals, labeling, declaration of conformity) are up to date,
- Planning standardized transition processes for products approaching their withdrawal dates,
- To complete the transition plan on time to avoid the risk of non-compliance in market surveillance and inspections
To summarize;
The 2026 withdrawal dates are not just a technical change;
are critical thresholds for product safety, market surveillance and administrative sanctions. Timely preparations will significantly reduce the risk of future non-compliance for producers and the supply chain.
