New Global Responsibility Standard GRTS Era Begins

An important step is being taken to achieve sustainability goals in the textile industry. The newly introduced “Global Responsible Textile Standard” (GRTS) stands out as a voluntary certification system that offers strong criteria in the areas of environmental protection, social responsibility and traceability. This standard can be applied not only to organic fibers, but also to recycled, synthetic or responsibly sourced but non-organic fibers. Thus, companies will be able to fulfill their sustainability commitments across a wider range of products.

Since GRTS is built on the existing GOTS infrastructure, companies will be able to comply with existing systems without radically changing their processes. The standard is being developed with a multi-stakeholder approach and transparent processes. The draft, which is shaped by participant opinions, is designed to respond to the needs of the sector.

The final version is planned to be published in the coming period. With the introduction of GRTS, textile manufacturers and brands will be able to have their products internationally recognized not only for quality and design, but also for environmental and social responsibility. This new standard offers an important opportunity for brands seeking reliability and sustainability in the global market.
