Eurachem has published two new information sheets to raise quality and competence standards for laboratories. The first, on the ISO 15189 standard, updated in 2022, outlines the main changes to the quality and competence requirements for medical laboratories. This new standard encourages continuous improvement processes for laboratories, with a greater emphasis on risk management and patient-centeredness.
Secondly, the “Equipment Qualification – Introduction” sheet introduces the basic principles for ensuring that analytical equipment and systems used in laboratories are fit for purpose. This guide aims to help laboratories achieve reliable analytical results by emphasizing the importance of correct installation, operation, stability and calibration of equipment. These new guidelines published by Eurachem aim to help laboratories comply with current standards and increase the reliability of their analysis processes. By utilizing these resources, laboratory professionals can strengthen their quality management systems and maintain compliance with international standards.
