The Union de Normalisation de la Mรฉcanique (UNM), which plays an important role in shaping industrial safety standards in Europe, has published two new guidelines under Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230. These documents aim to guide industrial organizations on artificial intelligence and cyber security.
The first guide focuses on the safe use of artificial intelligence in industrial machinery. It specifically addresses the definition, application areas and security risks of self-improving systems. The guide provides a roadmap to facilitate understanding of the new regulations.
The second guide covers the measures to be taken against cyber threats emerging with the increasing digital connectivity of machines. It includes risk analysis methods, existing standards and recommendations for preparing for future regulations. Both documents are a strategic resource for industry representatives in preparation for the new regulations that will come into force in 2027. These guides, prepared with the contributions of EUROGIP and Branche AT/MP experts, shed light on the development of occupational safety standards in Europe.
