New Labeling Regulations for Products of Animal Origin Published

Turkey’s Ministry of Trade has made the labeling of products containing ingredients of animal origin mandatory with new regulations published on April 9, 2025. These regulations, published in the Official Gazette (Issue: 32865), aim to provide transparency so that consumers can make more informed decisions.

Under the new rules, sellers must clearly indicate the source of the ingredients of products of animal origin. This information must appear in Turkish, in a readable and non-misleading manner on labels, packaging or product-related documents. In addition, for online sales, this information must be included in the product specifications.

This regulation, which covers products such as leather, textiles, garments and footwear, is also linked to two important import control notifications. Reinforcing Turkey’s commitment to consumer rights and ethical consumption, these regulations will enter into force on June 9, 2025.
