Abrasion Resistance Test - TS EN 12477

What is Wear Resistance and Why is it Important?

Abrasion resistance is a critical test that measures the durability of protective gloves against mechanical abrasion risks. This test determines how long the gloves can last in harsh working conditions and is crucial for occupational safety. At USB Certification laboratory, we perform abrasion resistance determination in accordance with TS EN 388+A1:2019 and TS EN 12477:2007 standards.

What are TS EN 388 + A1: 2019 and TS EN 12477: 2007 Standards?

These standards define internationally recognized test methods used to determine the abrasion resistance of protective gloves against mechanical risks. These standards assess how durable the glove is and whether it meets the required safety standards. In our laboratory, we conduct tests in accordance with these standards, ensuring that your gloves comply with safety standards.

Importance of Abrasion Resistance Tests

Abrasion resistance tests are vital to determine how long protective gloves can last in harsh working conditions and safely protect the wearer. These tests help to ensure that your products meet the requirements for CE certification processes and also give your products a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

Importance in terms of Environment and Area of Use

Abrasion resistance determines not only the durability of protective gloves, but also how resistant they are to environmental factors. Determining the abrasion resistance of your products ensures that they can be used safely and effectively in a variety of industrial applications.

Abrasion Resistance Test Process in Our Laboratory

In our laboratory, the determination of wear resistance is carried out by abrading circular specimens with the Lissajous Figure under a known pressure. During the test, the capacity of the specimens to withstand a certain number of friction cycles is evaluated and the wear resistance of the specimen is determined using these values.

Sample Preparation and Test Process

The testing process starts with the preparation of specimens according to certain standards and conditioning in a laboratory environment. The specimens are placed in the abrasion machine under appropriate pressure and tested through specific friction cycles. The wear levels of the specimens are visually assessed and the results are reported.
