Leather products are characterized by durability, quality and longevity. However, in order to reliably measure these properties, physical tests such as tear strength must be applied. The TS EN ISO 3377-1 standard is an internationally recognized test method for determining the tear resistance of leather samples.
How is the TS EN ISO 3377-1 Tear Strength Test Applied?
In this test, a pre-opened cut is applied to the leather sample and tearing is achieved by tensile force from two edges. The maximum force measured during the test determines the tear strength of the product. This value indicates how resistant the product is to the forces to which it may be exposed in use.
Test Process and Measurement Method
- The sample is brought into a special shape
- Tearing is initiated by creating a cut
- Force is applied in the tensile device
- Maximum tear force is recorded
Place of TS EN ISO 3377-1 Tests in CE Certificate and Legal Compliance Process
The tests carried out in our laboratory are carried out with CE approved organization infrastructure. Test reports prepared in full compliance with TS EN ISO 3377-1 standard can be used in legal compliance processes in both domestic and foreign markets. This document is of great importance especially for export-oriented leather products.

Leather tear strength tests conducted in accordance with S EN ISO 3377-1 standard ensure that your products are accepted in international markets. Our CE approved test reports offer you a great advantage in both export and legal compliance processes.
Where Can You Use Interfacial Adhesion Strength Tests?
- Leather manufacturers: Raw material and finished product quality control
- Importers Quality certificates and conformity reports for market entry
- Retailers Quality assurance and consumer confidence in the supply chain
The Role of Testing for Human Health and the Environment
Poor quality and flimsy leather products can cause not only economic losses but also risks to user safety. Products with low tear resistance increase waste generation by deforming in a short time. This both harms the environment and undermines consumer confidence.
